An “eggcellent” visualization for your little

Yesterday, my five-year-old son had a bellyache. It’s easy to offer up an aid for relief, but instead of rushing for medicine or a quick-fix distraction, I usually do a little hands on healing and they’re good to go. But this time, I guided him into his own healing power, using something simple, playful, and deeply effective: visualization.

I told him to close his eyes.

“I have something special for you,” I whispered. “An invisible little egg, right here in my hand.”

He immediately went into ‘play mode’ and started giggling and laughing. I held my palm open as if the egg were already there, real and waiting. “This isn’t just any egg,” I continued. “Inside, it’s swirling with medicine made of blue and purple—the colors that make you feel happy and safe.” (His favorites.)

Next, I visualized me placing the egg in his hand. “You can’t see it, but you can feel it.”, I said. And at this point now he’s on Planet Giggle and totally immersed in the fun (and no longer focused on the discomfort). “Now, go ahead and eat it,” I encouraged. “Feel it in your mouth, rolling on your tongue, and then swallowing it down, going down your esophagus, down, down into your belly.”

Then, I placed my hand gently over his belly, sending Reiki for a little extra love. “All better?” “All better!” he giggled.

Why This Works

Children are deeply connected to their imagination—it’s how they make sense of the world, how they learn, how they experience emotions. By inviting them into a visualization, we give them a tool they can carry for life. A way to connect to their own healing energy, their own sense of safety and well-being, no matter what’s happening around them.

How You Can Try This

  • When your child is feeling unwell, use their favorite colors, shapes, or even characters to guide a simple healing visualization.

  • Invite them to "hold" something in their hand—even if it’s invisible, their mind will make it real.

  • Engage all their senses: What does it feel like? What does it taste like? How does it move through their body?

  • If you practice energy healing, pair the visualization with physical touch—a gentle hand on their back, their belly, or their heart.

We often think of healing as something external—a pill, a doctor, a solution outside of us. But children remind us that healing is also deeply internal, a process of belief, trust, and energetic alignment.

And sometimes, all it takes is an invisible little egg.
